The Issue with AOL

Monday, 28th July, 2003 - 21:06

As of this post we still cannot send email to AOL email addresses. AOL continues its ridiculous blacklisting regardless of our attempts to prove to them this server is not a source of spam (nor has it ever been). Do not contact us using an AOL email address; we cannot respond. If you are an AOL user, you should contact AOL to express your discontent with this situation.

System Updates

Tuesday, 22nd July, 2003 - 22:53

We’ll be updating some server software tonight which may cause a brief interruption in services (perhaps five minutes).

Update: There was no interruption of service during this upgrade.

Greymatter Installations

Tuesday, 22nd July, 2003 - 16:57

Due to the recent number of “stuck” greymatter processes, be they from the gm.cgi or gm-comments.cgi script, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to a more stable blogging script. We still allow greymatter installations; however, if this problem, at this level, continues, we may be forced to change our policy.

AOL continues to bounce email

Wednesday, 16th July, 2003 - 00:40

AOL continues with its ridiculous bouncing of email without justified reasoning. At this point there is nothing we can do to correct the problem; we are not a source of spam and our relaying is closed and accessible only via authentication.

New Anti-Spam Features

Sunday, 13th July, 2003 - 23:10

Within the Mail section of CPanel you can now configure Spam Assassin through CPanel versus having to modify the config file on your own through FTP. You can also have all SA tagged email sent to a special inbox called “spam” which you can then check through IMAP or Webmail (this way you don’t have to download the spam, just pop in and delete it). For Cron savvy clients you could run a job to clear it out automatically — provided that you trust SA enough.
