Possible Perl Issue

Friday, 14th November, 2003 - 06:42

It seems as though CPanel may have auto-installed some update to Perl that has rendered Perl functionality crippled. We’re looking into this and hope to be able to resolve it soon.

Update: Seems that only a few modules were affected and general Perl processing is fine. Those affected modules have been replaced and there seems to be no other errors. Please let us know if something seems to be negatively affected.

All Systems Go.

The modules, such as mod_perl, mod_gzip, and mod_dav are working along with Apache & PHP as they should.

PHP was updated to version 4.3.3. Once the stability of PHP has been established for version 4.3.4, downtime will be scheduled to perform that update.

If you notice any problems possibly relating to today’s problem, please let us know via the support helpdesk.

Issues Resolved, really!

Monday, 10th November, 2003 - 19:40

At the moment there is still no mod_perl support in Apache, nor is content being gzipped to improve speed. If you don’t know what these things are, then they don’t apply to your website and can easily be ignored.

The root of the problem was finally determined and as such Apache/PHP was able to be compiled successfully to avoid the problems that started this entire process.

Mod_perl, provided that it ‘plays nice’ with PHP, will be added back into Apache late this evening. With consideration for the amount of intermittant downtime this situation has caused it is best to wait and make sure websites are available during peak evening usage hours.

Thank you for your patience, sometimes things just don’t work the way they’re supposed to and in this case, appropriate bug reports are being filed with software providers.

Apache & PHP Issues Continue

Monday, 10th November, 2003 - 18:46

Apache has just started failing on an intermittant basis when dealing with PHP files. This is resulting in empty pages. Please be patient as we continue to iron out the problems created by the CPanel apache scripting.

Update on the PHP Issue

Monday, 10th November, 2003 - 18:09

It appears as though the issue with PHP rendering was actually a problem with mod_perl. Whenever mod_perl was enabled php scripting would prompt for download. Mod_perl is temporarily disabled until the exact problem can be determined. All other services should be functioning as normal.
