Scheduled Maintenance – Planned Downtime

Tuesday, 21st September, 2004 - 22:24

The datacentre will be installing remote reboot switches on servers Friday 24th September between 8AM and 8PM. This is the maintenance window, the actual process is estimated to take less than twenty minutes and will occur sometime during this window. We have no control over when the maintenance will occur during this window.

During the estimated period of twenty minutes all services provided will be unavailable. This means that the server will not be able to serve webpages for viewing or send and receive email.

The remote reboot switch will allow us to instantly reboot the webserver in the event there is an issue requiring us to restart the webserver. We will not need to wait for datacentre technicians to physically do this. While instances of problems so severe as to warrant a reboot are quite rare, this scheduled downtime will ultimately decrease downtime if such a situation would occur in the future.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation.
