All hosting accounts levels have had the data storage and transfer limits doubled.

Mod_Security Rules Update

Sunday, 11th November, 2007 - 05:20

Mod_Security rules were updated this morning to reflect changes in prevention of attacks by spurious user agents, rootkits, proxy servers, and other nastiness. These changes should not effect legitimate users in any way.

The restart of Apache services did have the unfortunate side-effect of triggering the downtime monitoring service, of course Apache was down for merely a second or two, downtime monitoring will also, of course, register this as a full five minutes as usual.

Stats Processing Running Behind

Wednesday, 7th November, 2007 - 22:21

It has come to our attention that statistics processing has run behind schedule. We have adjusted the hours we allow stats to be processed so that they can “catch up” and begin processing as normal. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

PHP5 Available through CGI

Friday, 10th August, 2007 - 19:29

PHP5 is now available on the webserver to be optionally enabled by the end-user.

PHP4 will remain the default PHP until its End Of Life this December. We will then switch to PHP5 full-time as the default. Please use this time to confirm that all of your PHP scripts are compatible with PHP5. This likely will not be an issue, but we feel it is best to provide this interim period where both versions are available. We will likely offer PHP4 as a secondary PHP for some time after the switch in the same manner that we’re offering PHP5 now.

Again, please use the rest of this year to ensure compatibility of PHP5 with user-installed software by testing PHP5 wherever necessary.

PHP5 will be the processor for files with the extension .php5 automatically. To enable PHP5 for processing of .php files you only need add a single line to your .htaccess.

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

PHP5, as mentioned, processes through the CGI interface, versus being an Apache module, it may be slightly slower as a result, but otherwise the configurations are identical.

Mobile Email Upgrade/Update

Saturday, 12th May, 2007 - 12:32

We have updated our installation of Squirrel Mail at http://mobile.positivefusion.com ( https://secure.positivefusion.com/mobile/) to fix a few bugs and other little annoyances. The migration went smoothly, but if you are a Mobile Email user and notice difficulties please let us know through standard support methods and we’ll see what we can do.

You may need to go into Options/Display Preferences to reselect the ‘Positive Fusion’ theme. It is the default, but if you prefer the standard Squirrel Mail theme you can still use that one. :)

Our Mobile Email is a great alternative to using Cpanel’s built-in Squirrel Mail, particularly if you’re behind a firewall that doesn’t allow traffic over Cpanel’s ports.
